Waivers/Long Term Care (South Dakota)

The Choices Waiver program assists persons with intellectual disabilities in South Dakota. Examples of services that are provided under this waiver program include case management, training and habilitation services, pre-vocational training, and supported employment. The CHOICES Medicaid waiver program assists persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities in South Dakota.

 The Family Support Waiver is designed to help children and adults stay with their family or in their own home. The waiver provides a wide range of services and support for families of children with an intellectual disability and for adults with an intellectual disability.

 The Assistive Daily Living Services Program provides personal attendant services, case management, consumer preparation and ancillary services such as skilled nursing and emergency response services to individuals with quadriplegia.

The Department of Social Services, Division of Adult Services and Aging, administers the Home and Community Based Services Adult Waiver which allows the use of Medicaid funds to provide home and community based services to individuals that are at risk for institutionalization such as elderly and individuals who are over age 18 with a qualifying disability.
